So, I have been contemplating downloading movies from the Internet. I am a huge movie collector & have spent quite a bit of money at my local Blockbuster. I have been looking for more convenient & cheaper alternatives. I decided to document my search & inform others of the information I have found.

There are two alternatives to adding to my movie collection & spending less money. One would reluctantly say would be to buy a bootleg copy. Honestly, we would stop at that last sentence if you have ever seen a bootleg DVD. Most are pretty bad and you never know how bad until it's too late. If you haven't seen one, imagine watching a movie in the theatre, including seeing the actual people in the theatre getting up to do whatever it is they need to do. Also, you get to HEAR the people doing whatever it is they are doing. If that wasn't enough, imagine putting on a pair of hazy glasses & putting cotton balls in your ears. NOT GOOD, at least for me. I'd rather go to the theatre, watch the movie myself & call it a day.

Ok, the other option is downloading from the internet. Now, let's take a look at the problems out there concerning movie downloads & downloads in general.

First, when you download anything from anywhere you always risk the chance of downloading some sort of spyware or virus. Now, you might be telling yourself, "Well, that's why I have anti-virus protection". Well, I'm sure that I don't have to tell you that these days more & more advanced viruses & spyware are being created. Virus protectors keep getting updated, but they are for the most part one step behind. The only way to be truly safe from downloading any virus or spyware is to download from a trusted source or never download nothing at all. For most of us, the latter is not possible.

Second, I don't know about you but I am very impatient. Downloading movies can be EXTREMELY slow. If you give me the choice of buying a movie for $19.99 or trying to download it from a file sharing site, and I do mean TRYING to, for several hours, I would run to the store with $25 in my teeth. By the way, companies that offer you free downloads are more than likely a file sharing site and aren't really free at all. You will pay with the first two options above and then some, believe me.

Is there really such a thing as LEGAL movie downloads?

Finally, most important, is the legality of it all. In most cases, the answer to this question above is, "no". I'm sure you have read stories of people being sued for millions of dollars for illegal downloads. Even up until recently a mother was sued for downloading multiple songs from a website. Not only do you risk virus, but you risk being punished with million dollar fines. Sites such as zml.com & moviepro.net offer you downloads with a minimal fee, but if you read their copyright policy you will quickly figure out that they are located in Russia & YOU will be held responsible for the laws in YOUR country. I know here in the United States, it is ILLEGAL to download these movies.

On the bright side, I actually found a website where you can LEGALLY download movies from. I mean 100% legal! You also don't have to worry about downloading spyware or viruses & it's VERY fast. They have a very large selection of movies & I highly recommend this site. Anyone interested in fast safe downloads should check out the site below for the link. It also has other links for downloading movie labels, etc.
